Breadcrumb navigation or breadcrumb trail is a design pattern for graphical user interface design. Usually it is a line of text that indicates to the user which branch he is in within an application. Breadcrumbs show the path to the current element, for example, to the web page or category in the catalog. Navigation is intended to improve orientation within deeply branched element trees by providing links to higher-level or topic-related elements. Often these are designed as buttons.
