The essentials for a day on the water

It's that time of year! The sun is shining, the birds are singing - and it's time to pack up your beach gear and head to the lake or river! If you're not sure what to bring on your next trip to the water, read on. We'll tell you what we think is essential for a day in the sun.

1. beach poncho

Beach ponchos are not only a fun, colorful way to complement your beach look, but they're also practical and multifunctional. There's nothing worse than having to leave the beach because you forgot your towel - a beach poncho is quick and easy to use, plus it's easy to carry around. You can lie on it, dry off, protect your skin from the sun or get cozy when you shiver after swimming!

2. sun cream

Sunscreen is at the top of this list for a reason. It protects you from the sun's harmful rays and helps keep your skin glowing and clear, as well as preventing skin cancer.

By the way, did you know that textiles like our Switcher T-shirts have natural UV protection depending on the color?

3. snacks

Snacks are the best thing to take to the lake or river. They're fun, they help you enjoy your time at the beach longer, and they save money on eating out.

They're also easy to pack in advance - just make sure they're non-perishable!

Some of our favorite snacks are fruits, nuts, vegetables and dips. Just make sure they are stored properly so they don't spoil or make a mess!

4. parasol

A parasol is not absolutely necessary, but it can make a day in the sun much more enjoyable. It's not hard to see why: parasols are just plain fun! If you're going to be in the sun all day, a parasol will keep you cool and shaded for as long as possible.

5. sunglasses

Another important beach utensil. They protect your eyes from UV rays and reduce the risk of cataracts and age-related macular degeneration.

6. bath slippers

Flip flops are a must for a day at the water. They protect your feet from hot sand/stones. You don't have to worry about ruining them if they get wet.

7. insect repellent

A day at the water is relaxing and just plain fun! But there are also a few disadvantages: Mosquitoes (and other insects) love water; if they smell it on you, they'll be even more attracted!

8. cap

A hat is a good idea to protect your face from the sun. It also keeps your head cool and you may not even realize it's there.

9. beach bag

A beach bag is essential for storing all your other essentials. It should be sturdy, waterproof and have enough space for all your stuff. Since it can get dirty quickly, you should choose a bag that you can easily clean.

10. the water bottle

One of the best things about Switzerland is that you can easily find a water fountain nearby! Take advantage of them by bringing a reusable water bottle and stay hydrated. This is especially important on hot days!

You don't have to buy a special bottle for the beach. Just take your normal bottle with you - and just refill it when needed!
